Father of the nation commemorated

The 69th death anniversary of the first Prime Minister of independent Sri Lanka and the founder of the United National Party, D.S. Senanayake was commemorated on March 22, 2021, at the Senanayake Samadhi in front of the historic Botale Walauwa, in Mirigama. The theme of the event was “Tribute to the Father of the Nation”. UNP Deputy Leader and DS Senanayake’s great grandson Ruwan Wijewardene, party General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara and other UNP leaders were also present at the occasion.

Another commemoration was held near Senanayake’s statue at Independence Square on the same day.
