Fashionable scene to help the needy
It’s not often that we associate a fashion show as a charity project, but it does happen…maybe not in the local scene.
The Lighthouse Foundation, in Los Angles, California, which assists families displaced from homes, of domestic abuse, put together a red carpet gala fashion and beauty expo, specifically to assist the children from these displaced homes, and to help bring smiles for the holidays.
The ‘Santa Baby and Sleigh The Runway Fashion Show’ event was held in Los Angeles, just in time for the festive period.
Dozens of vendors, in the beauty trade, presented their premium goods in a vast, elegant space, while several celebrity designers showcased their fabulous designs on the runway.
The festive atmosphere, they say, was awesome, with fashionable guests mingling with celebrities, including one of the famous reality show stars, Kevin Kreider, who did three seasons of the reality show ‘Bling Empire’.
This Hollywood show also brought into the spotlight two Sri Lankans, living in Los Angles, who are much in the news these days – the mother and daughter team of Morina Dass and Zorianna Dass.
They were part of the celebrity designers’ fashion show.
The Sri Lankan American fashion icon is a celebrity herself, in LA, having won the Ms. California State America 2016 beauty pageant, and was Mrs. Asia runner up at the Ms. America-Mrs. Asia USA 2011 pageant.
She is a banker, by profession, attached to the Bank of America, and also a freelance model and actress.
Morina says she never miss reading The Island, online edition, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
“I enjoy reading The Island newspaper because I’m able to keep abreast of what’s happening over there, and your two pages are full of the latest entertainment happenings. Keep up the good work.”
