Members of several farmers associations in the North Western Province yesterday refused to accept liquid fertiliser distributed by the Ministry of Agriculture claiming that are inferior products.

Farmers smashed the cans liquid fertiliser at D 03 canal agricultural office and at Dimbulagala. Agriculture officers had purchased the liquid fertiliser from several local producers.

Farmers, upon receiving the liquid fertiliser opened them and claimed that it was likely sewage. They warned the government that they would stop farming unless they were given high quality fertiliser.

Farmers of the Parakarama Samudraya Scheme, Polonnaruwa have complained that the compost they have recieved is of inferior quality. Most of the purchased compost debris, seeds and stones, the farmers claim.
