Face masks and rapid antigen test kits worth Rs. 25Mn presented to Army chief
IME Korea and SD Biosensors through their local counterparts jointly donated a stock of face masks for the use of servicemen engaged in preventive work and rapid antigen test kits for COVID-19 diagnoses.
The donation from both companies dealing with global in-vitro diagnostic requirements was made possible due to an initiative by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Seoul, Korea, in close consultation with General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak.
The stock included 8,000 face masks and 10,000 rapid antigen test kits to the value of around Rs. 25 million.
General Shavendra Silva, accepting the donation symbolically at Army Headquarters in Sri Jayewardenepura, commended the donors’ thoughtfulness and appreciation of the role played by tri-servicemen against Covid-19 transmission.
The local partners of the Korean companies, Warrick SEO, Director, Seek Energy Private Limited, Country Head, Rumesh Ubayasiri, Seek Energy Private Limited and Udara Senanayake, Assistant Manager, Seek Energy Private Limited were present during the meet with the Commander of the Army.
During the interaction, General Shavendra Silva explained the series of Covid preventive measures being implemented by the troops, irrespective around the clock and the commitment of troops, health workers and other stakeholders against its transmission.
