Expect rains in coming days

The Met Department yesterday said there would be thunder showers in the evening or the night over most parts of the country in the coming days. Heavy rains above 100 mm were expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Western, Central and North-western Provinces.

Showers can be expected in Eastern and Uva provinces during the morning as well, the Met Department says. Misty conditions are expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces during the morning.

People are requested to take precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers or thunderstorms will occur in the seas off the coast extending from Galle to Batticaloa via Hambanthota. Showers or thunderstorms may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo in the evening or night.

Wind speed may increase up to 40 kmph in the sea areas extending from Hambanthota to Pottuvil and Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar.
