Exorcist arrested with ancient Buddha statue

Sleuths of the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit yesterday arrested an exorcist while he was trying to sell an ancient Buddha statue to an Indian for Rs 10 million.The arrest was made at Kuruvita in Ratnapura by a team led by OIC Indika Weerasinghe.

The statue weighs 48 kilos. The suspect in custody revealed that the statue had been obtained from a person in Kandy.The police dispatched the statue to the Department of Archaeology for inspection.
