Excise Dept given Rs 217 bn revenue target under SLAS Chief

Senior officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service Saman Jayasinghe (Special Grade) has been appointed new Commissioner General of Excise.

Excise headquarters said that the new appointment had been made in the wake of the Treasury giving them a revenue target of Rs 217 bn in 2023, the biggest challenge faced by them. Before taking up the new assignment, Jayasinghe has served the Finance Ministry among other places.

Jayasinghe succeeded M.J. Gunasiri, who retired having reached the retirement age on Dec 31, 2022.
