Excels in the world of dance music…

He calls himself Alex-T and he is from Sri Lanka. Well…what’s so special about Alex-T?
According to reports, Alex –T (Alex T. Wiratunga) is, what one would say, that ‘rare thing’ in the world of dance music – a musician who understands the world of melodies, just as much as he understands the power of the kick drum. Yes, and that is the reason why this guy is in the spotlight in The Island, in today’s edition.

During the past decades, Alex – T has been a well-known name among radio listeners, in Sri Lanka, for his exceptional weekend radio shows.
He began his radio profession, on EFM, with the weekend radio mix show, Club Connection, a journey of dance music; he also had the opportunity to be the events and promotions coordinator for the station.

Just after the great start, of his radio journey, Alex-T got the opportunity to be a part of Kiss 898, an extreme dance music radio station. And…once again, Alex -T broaden his dance music culture with his weekend radio mix shows.
Currently based in Dubai, Alex -T has extended his music talent by producing music for three record labels, globally (Emperor Recordings – Serbia, Big Tunes – USA, and Serendib Records – Sri Lanka).

He is also a Verified Spotify artiste, and has two radio shows on COSMOS Radio – Germany, Island Pulse – Sri Lanka, Banger Music – Sri Lanka, and guest spots, every month, on KISS FM Australia
Alex -T, I’m told, is one of the main event organizers for Sri Lankan-based artistes who perform in Dubai.

He has worked on several concerts, held in the UAE, including ‘Infinity of Love 2017’, featuring the band Infinity, Shihan Mihiranga and Naleen, and ‘Daddy live in Dubai’, with Alex – T and Dj Naleen, in 2018.
2020 was a quiet year because of the pandemic, but Alex -T says he has a few projects, in mind for the new year, 2021.

He is working on three tracks, also a music video for one of his earlier releases, ‘Sounds of Emotions,’ (2019), and concerts, as well – if the pandemic scene improves.

The singles released by Alex – T are ‘In My Head,’ (2018), on Emperor Recordings (Serbia), ‘Sounds of Emotions,’ (2019), on Big Tunes (USA), and ‘Asswaduma,’ (2020), on Serandip Records (Sri Lanka).

Alex – T mentioned that his productions are a mishmash of Sri Lankan elements and dance music, that includes Sri Lankan folk songs, traditional instruments, and Sri Lankan percussion instruments.

“We want to see International DJs playing our music which has a Sri Lankan touch. It’s a long hall challenge but we are working on it ,and we have been getting support, both locally and internationally.”

Alex – T operates, in Dubai, with his partner CYNC (Saranga De Silva).
