Excellent wound care service at NHSL
I have to take my wife weekly to the Wound Care Centre Room No. 14, located right opposite the church (St. Peter’s Chapel), which is within the premises of the hospital for dressing (strapping to be exact) of a wound in the ankle. The service to the patients visiting this room is excellent, in spite of the crowd and the congestion on account of the limited space where the patients have to sit awaiting their turn.
I wish to thank Dr. Thushan Gooneratne, Consultant Vascular and Transplant Surgeon, Senior Lecturer who also personally handles the dressing of the wound, and whom I find very accommodating, obliging and making us feel at home; as he gives the patient a kind hearing and his amiable response to our queries, although he has to attend to so many patients. Many thanks go out to the nurses and the supporting staff for their efficient and admirable service.
I hope the Director of NHSL and the Minister of Health will take note of this write up and let me make a humble request to them, to see whether the patient sitting area could be made spacious for the convenience of the patients, and at the same time make it easy to control the crowd for the hospital staff.
