Examination Chief asks public not to protest during GCE O/L

Commissioner General of Examinations LMD Dharmasena has requested the public to refrain from conducting protests on the days when the GCE O/L examination is conducted. The examination is scheduled to commence today (23) and to end on 01 June. All question papers pertaining to the GCE Ordinary Level Examination had been transported to the Examination Coordinating Centres by Saturday, the Examinations Chief said.

According to the Department of Examinations, 517,496 candidates are sitting for the GCE O/L examination at 3,844 examination centres. Sri Lanka Transport Board Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka said additional buses would be deployed to transport students sitting for the exam.

He said that Sisu Sariya buses as well as other additional buses would be deployed for the students coming to the examination centers. The SLTB has been instructed to provide fuel for the vehicles engaged in the transportation of examination staff and examination centers, he added.The SLTB Chairman said arrangements had been made to take students arriving by train from the railway stations to the examination centres by buses. Deputy General Manager of Railways VS Polwattage said that the train service for school children on the regular train schedule would continue to operate during the examination period.
