Ex-CB Governor Cabraal summoned before court on personal complaint filed by NGO activist

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala yesterday (18) issued summons on former Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal to appear before the court on 02 May.

The court also extended a travel ban imposed on him until that day.

The order was issued when a private complaint filed by the Governor of the Southern Province, Keerthi Tennakoon, was taken up for consideration as the former Governor failed to appear in court, as per the summons issued on April 7, 2022.

The complaint alleges Cabraal of misappropriation and financial fraud when he was the governor of the Central Bank. Cabraal Resigned from his post on 04 April, 2022.

Attorney-at-Law Jeewantha Jayatilleke appearing for Cabraal said that he would make preliminary objections regarding the personal complaint filed by Tennakoon.
