Errant bus driver who threatened traffic cop arrested after footage went viral

The Welikada police yesterday took into custody a bus driver after a video showing him threaten a traffic police officer who had fined the driver for a traffic violation went viral on the Internet.

In the footage, the suspect, who identified himself as Dilshan, warned the officer never to stay on the road after issuing the fine.

The arrest followed an investigation initiated in response to the widespread attention the video received on social media platforms, police said.

 The Welikada police are conducting further investigations. The suspect was scheduled to be produced in court, police said.
