Eran says budget proposals nothing but a make believe world painted by President

SJB MP Eran Wickremaratne told Parliament yesterday that the 2023 budget proposals, presented by the President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, were aimed at deceiving the public.

“These proposals attempted to deceive us all. They offer promises and hopes. It is as if creating an illusion that listeners would end up in Disneyland. The President needs to realise that people no longer fall for these speeches. Currently, electricity has been disconnected from over 600,000 households nationwide as people struggle to afford the continuously increasing bills imposed by the government in recent months,” MP Wickremaratne stated during the second reading stage debate on the budget 2023 proposals.

“People who once had three meals a day have now fallen into poverty and are forced to consume only two meals. Those who used to enjoy fish cannot even afford a piece of dried fish,” the MP added, emphasising the irony of expecting solutions for the economic crisis from the same individuals who contributed to its creation.

“Those who are responsible for this mess are in the government. It’s unreasonable to expect those accountable for this crisis to provide solutions,” the MP questioned.
