Sri Lanka’s envoy to Kenya, Kana Kananathan, yesterday (07) had talks with Central African Republic President Faustin-Archange Touadéra in the Central African Republic. The discussions revolved around enhancing bilateral ties, emphasising potential collaboration avenues. Talks also focussed on mining opportunities for Sri Lankans in the Central African Republic.

President Touadéra and High Commissioner Kananathan’s dialogue underscored a mutual commitment to strengthening economic bonds and establishing strategic partnerships. The primary goal is to optimise the abundant mineral wealth in the Central African Republic for the benefit of Sri Lankan entrepreneurs, fostering shared growth and prosperity.

The Central African Republic stands out for its wealth in diamonds, gold, uranium, iron ore, copper, and manganese.

Expressing optimism about the potential for a fruitful collaboration, Kana Kananathan said, “Exploring rich mining opportunities presents an exciting prospect for strengthening the ties between our nations.” This endeavour is aimed at opening doors for a new era of economic cooperation, promising mutual benefits for Sri Lanka and the Central African Republic.
