Although the going is pretty tough, at this end, and the entertainment scene is yet to move into top gear, overseas it’s happening, and local artistes, based abroad, have now work coming their way, on a regular basis.

Suzi Fluckiger, better known to Sri Lankan music lovers as Suzi Croner, is doing exceedingly well in Switzerland, where she now resides.

When the pandemic was at its peak, there were lots of restrictions, the world over, and entertainers found themselves without work.

However, in Switzerland, the situation has improved and Suzi finds herself much in demand.

Suzi not only excels, as a singer, but also as an entertainer, on stage, with her bubbly personality, and now she has firmly establish herself, in her part of the world.

She had an offer, coming her way, to base herself, Down Under, and do the music scene, over there, but Suzi says she prefers Switzerland.

“I have heaps of work here, and I have established myself, in the scene here, so I wouldn’t want to make any changes, at this point in time.”

In fact, Suzi was mentioned in a Swiss newspaper, called Wettingen.

The singer, of Friends’ fame, also pays a lot of attention to her health and, during the day, she plays tennis and does swimming, as well.

“I’ve lost almost nine kilos and now I’m hoping to take a small break, from my work – probably three days – for a Wellness trip, with some of my friends.

Suzi had plans to come this way, later in the year, for a series of performances, but she has now decided to put it on hold, because of the current situation, in Sri Lanka.

Another local artiste, enjoying his overseas scene, is Sal Salgado, who is based in Germany.

He has been very busy touring – was in London, last month – and has lots of work, coming his way, he says.

On Sunday, August 21st, Sal played for a company jubilee party, held on board a small ship, in Hamburg, Germany.

Sal says that it was after a break of over two years that he got the opportunity to perform on a ship.

“The weather was really nice and I had lots of fun with the crowd. And now I feel like a new born, so want to continue with this scene, as well.”
