Emirates announced that it would operate two additional flights per week to Colombo from today, to support the resurgence of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry as more key source markets relax travel restrictions.

The airline said that the added frequencies will increase direct flights between Dubai and Colombo to 14 per week, taking Emirates’ weekly schedule to Sri Lanka’s commercial capital to 21 flights per week, with the daily flight between Colombo and Male.

Effective today, Emirates flight EK650 from Dubai to Colombo, which currently operates five days per week, will be increased to a daily flight, with the additional service operating on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The flight departs Dubai at 02:40hrs and arrives in Colombo at 08:25hrs, while the return flight EK651 departs from Bandaranaike International Airport at 09:55hrs and arrives in Dubai at 12:55hrs, all times local.

Emirates has deployed its modern Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration on flights to Colombo, offering private suites in First Class, lie flat seats in Business Class and spacious seats in Economy Class. The additional frequencies will add another 712 seats into Colombo per week, and Emirates SkyCargo will offer an additional 40 tonnes of cargo capacity each way per week between Dubai and Colombo.
