Elevator breakdown triggers postal strike

Postal workers at the Central Mail Exchange (CME) in Colombo launched a token strike from midnight yesterday over a broken elevator in the CME building.

Co-Convener of the Joint Postal Trade Union Front Chinthaka Bandara said the strike had been launched against the authorities’ failure to replace a broken elevator.Postmaster General S. R. W. M. R. P. Sathkumara said that the 25-year-old elevator was under repairs.
