Eight private bus drivers nabbed for drugged driving

Dam Street Police nabbed eight private bus drivers for drugged driving, during a raid on Saturday.
Police also arrested the person who had supplied the narcotics to the suspects.
Dam Street Police conducted a series of raids on Saturday at several places, including Pettah, Bastian Mawatha and Gunasinghepura in Colombo. They acted on information provided by the Western Province Intelligence Division.
The suspects, aged between 30 and 45 years, are residents of Kurunegala, Minuwangoda and Gampaha.
The drug peddler is a 35-year-old resident of Grandpass.
The suspects had been referred to the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer and tests had proved that they were drug addicts, police said, adding that the suspects spent between Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 on drugs daily.
Dam Street Police are conducting further investigations.
