Egg imports to continue this year – Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security

Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security Nalin Fernando at a news conference held at the Presidential Media Center on Thursday (09) said that the government will continue to import eggs at least till 31 December 2023 to ensure that there is no shortage of eggs during the festive season.

He said that the government imports about 30 million eggs a month to meet domestic demand and will be compelled to continue import eggs if local production does not recover.by the end of the year.
