Educationist turned social media activist stabbed

Retired Director of Education and facebook activist A. L. M. Muktar was stabbed in the neck by an unknown person on Sunday night. This incident occurred close to his home in Sainthamaruthu while he was riding his motorbike with his grandchild. According to eyewitnesses, the assailant followed the victim on another motorbike prior to stabbing him.

Muktar has been admitted to Ashraff Memorial Hospital, Kalmunai for treatment. He is a facebook activist and used to highlight on his page whatever he perceived as corruptions and malpractices.

OIC of Sainthamaruthu Police S. L. Sumsudeen Station told The Island that they were looking for the assailant, but so far no arrest has been made.
