Education Secy. wants teachers willing to return today to first inform their union leaders

Teachers who wanted to report for work today should do so after informing their union leaders, Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Prof. Kapila Perera told the media yesterday.

Prof. Perera said all teachers and principals would turn up at schools on 25 October. “However, it is possible that a lot of them will turn up today as well”, Prof. Perera said. The Secretary to the Ministry of Education said schools with fewer than 200 students would reopen today after a six months’ closure.

“We have prepared the schools. We are ready to welcome students and teachers. We also have a song ready to welcome both students and teachers,” he said. (RK)
