Earth slip injures six STF personnel

An earth slip injured six STF personnel near the 102 km post between Imaduwa and Pinnaduwa on the Southern Expressway, on Wednesday nightThe police said there had been a minor earth slip around 8.30 pm and a vehicle had suffered damage.

An STF team deployed to assist the driver in distress and investigate the incident had been hit by a second earth slip, police said.The injured STF personnel are undergoing treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

The earth slips rendered the expressway impassable for several hours.Two lanes of the expressway near the earth slip site had been reopened for vehicular traffic by Thursday noon, police said.Those living in the area have been asked to remain vigilant. Police said the area was prone to earth slips.
