E-waste collection at 40 centres in WP on Jan. 28 and 29

The Central Environmental Authority has implemented a programme to collect electrical and electronic waste in the Western Province.
This programme has been launched under the theme “Let us save Mother Earth by protecting river waters through electronic waste management´. Arrangements have been made to collect domestic electrical and electronic waste items in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts at 40 centres on 28 and 29 January, 2022. People can hand over e-waste to these centres between 9.00 am and 4.30 pm each day.
CEA Chairman S. Amarasinghe said the programme for the collection of domestic electrical and electronic waste had been organised to prevent environmental pollution caused by the haphazard disposal of e-waste.
Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe also took part in the briefing.
Following are the 17 electrical and electronic waste acceptance centres in the Colombo District:
CEA Head Office at Battaramulla; Hyde Park Grounds; collecting centre at Clean Tec Pvt Limited – Park Street; Clean Tec Pvt Ltd collecting centre – Maligakanda; Mutuwella Grounds; Kaduwela – Kotelawala Maha Vidyala Playground; Oruwala Junior School; Kotte Municipal Council; Sri Pani Community Hall, Kalalgoda – Talawathugoda; Kotelawala Grounds – Homagama-Habarakada; Mattegoda Central Bus Stand; Playground, opposite Ratmalana-Kotelawalapura Maha Vidyalaya; Moratuwa Collecting Centre; premises behind the pavilion of Dehiwala -S de S Jayasinghe Playground; Madapatha Waste Management Centres; Playgrounds opposite Kolonnawa and Avissawella Urban Council.
Following are the 13 domestic electrical and electronic waste collecting centres in the Gampaha District:
Mirigama Public Grounds; Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha; Minuwangoda-Udugampola Pathahawatte Playground; Mahara Pradeshiya Sabha: Gampaha-Mudungoda Playground: Divulapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha; Biyagama Pradeshiya Sabha; Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha; Negombo Municipal Council; Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha: Ja-ela Pradeshiya Sabha; Katana Pradeshiya Sabha and Nittambuwa Public Playground.
In the Kalutara District waste will be collected at the following 10 centres:
Horana Pradeshiya Sabha Sub Office, Ingiriya; Horana Urban Council; Matugama Pradeshiya Sabha; Beruwala Urban Council; Panadura Urban Council; Mihisuru Organic Fertilizer Centre, Nagoda; Resource Centre at Bandaragama Pradeshiya Sabha (Pamunugama); Dodangoda Pradeshiya Sabha; Wadduwa Pradeshiya Sabha and Beruwala Pradeshiya Sabha.
