Actresses this year have experimented with their sari looks, giving it a contemporary twist. Sari has been draped in many ways over the years, There are regional variations as well as drape styles that respond to occupational requirements. Shilpa Shetty mastered the denim-on-denim trend by wearing a denim style sari with a coordinated denim blouse. Shraddha Kapoor wore a traditional paithani sari with a black jumpsuit, draping the sari on the chest. Bhumi Pednekar dropped the fabric pallu of her white sari and replaced it with strings of pearl. Kriti Sanon wore a black Benarasi textured sari as a gown with a thigh-high slit and a wrap effect. Priyanka Chopra wore a custom-made modern sari, draped sarong style, and paired it with a holographic bustier blouse. Gigi Hadid wore a golden chikankari sari with a bejeweled cropped top and a yellow skirt dotted with silver sequins.

Right from the Jhabua draping in the early 60s, to the iconic Mumtaz draping, the quintessential sari has witnessed dramatic draping changes over the years in Bollywood. Denim Sari ke fall sa

Shilpa Shetty mastered the denim-on-denim trend earlier this year, when she gave her sari a contemporary twist. She donned a denim style sari and paired it with a coordinated denim blouse. The look was edgy, on point and as Shilpa would exclaim on her show – super se oopar!

Gown benarasiya

Kriti Sanon wore a gown made of a black Benarasi textured sari. The ensemble had a thigh-high slit and a wrap effect. She styled it with another complementing Benarasi sari and used it as a cape. The chunky earrings and the braids added to the charm.

Desi sari, firangi nari

Supermodel Gigi Hadid, during her visit to India this year, wore a golden ornate chikankari sari. Her ensemble was made of a golden, bejewelled cropped top, short sleeves, and dangling beaded trim. She teamed up her blouse with a yellow skirt which was dotted all over with silver sequins and golden trim embroidery. Her style reminded us of the iconic Dola re Dola look.

Half sari

Shraddha Kapoor caught the attention of many when she picked a traditional paithani sari and gave it a twist by wearing a black jumpsuit with it. The sari was draped on the chest of the jumpsuit giving it a corset feel, while a long trail flowed on the back from the one-shoulder sweetheart neckline of the outfit.

Pallu Pearl Ke

A white sari is a Bollywood actress’ safest bet. Actress Bhumi Pednekar experimented with her white sari and dropped the fabric pallu. Instead, the pallu was replaced with strings of pearl which cascaded down the sari. The Badhaai Do actress, wore white straight fit pants that matched the sari and added a pearl necklace to finish the look.
