Dr. Hemali appointed VP of the Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau of the World Organization for Animal Health

Dr. Hemali Kothalawala, the Director General of the Department of Animal Production and Health, has been appointed as the Vice President of the Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau of the World Organization for Animal Health.
She recently represented Sri Lanka at the Annual General Assembly of the World Organization for Animal Health held in Paris, France.
Accompanied by a delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industry, Mahinda Amaraweera, she participated in the conference. Minister Amaraweera also delivered a speech during the conference, highlighting the initiatives undertaken in Sri Lanka for the promotion of animal production and health.
The Department of Animal Production and Health operates under the Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation. Dr. Hemali Kotalawala holds a degree in Veterinary Science from the University of Peradeniya. Additionally, she obtained her MSc degree from India’s Veterinary Research Institute and her Ph.D. from Obihiro University, Japan.
