Dr. Godahewa says supplier responsible even if only one explosion took place

State Minister Dr. Nalaka Godahewa said that the relevant gas supplier should accept the responsibility even if only one cylinder exploded. Dr. Godahewa emphasised that it would be their responsibility to take remedial measures immediately to stop these blasts and to restore public confidence.

The State Minister said so following the inauguration of a development programme at Wathupitiwela. Referring to various statements, both in and out of Parliament, regarding the spate of recent explosions, Dr. Godahewa emphasised that whatever they say, the gas suppliers could not absolve themselves of the responsibility to ensuring safety and security of the people. The two gas suppliers are Litro and Laugfs.

Dr. Godahewa urged the public to keep in mind that such explosions happened before and not to pretend they heard of such incidents for the first time (SF)
