Down Under…a happening scene
While our entertainment scene is, almost, completely dried up, Down Under the going seems good – judging by the reports coming my way. And the Sri Lankans, over there, are celebrating…in style.
On the 3rd of July, Rookantha and Chandralekha, along with the band Daddy, are scheduled to do a concert, at the Besen Centre, in Melbourne.
A novel event, ‘Christmas in July,’ will be held, in Sydney, on July 9, with the band Cazcade in attendance.
This event is being organised by the Sydney Bens.
‘Dance of the Lions 2022,’ organised by Trinity College OBA Melbourne, is another event that should draw a large crowd, they say, and it will be held on July 16th.
‘Christmas in July’ will also be celebrated, in Melbourne, on July 16th, with the Midnight Mist Trio and Summer Breeze.
I’m told that proceeds, from this event, will go to assist musicians, impacted by Covid, in Sri Lanka.
The MelMora Dinner Dance 2022 will be held on June 18th, in Melbourne, with the band Mystery doing the needful.
This event is being handled by the University of Moratuwa Alumni Association, in Victoria.
St. Peter’s College OBSC Melbourne will be celebrating the Peterite Centenary Ball, on July 30th, in Melbourne.
What intrigued me is that all these dances commence at 7.00 pm and wind up at 12.00 midnight.
Of course, we go on, and on…until the dawning of a new day!
