DJ Smokey now into catering

Vivian Candappa has made his mark in both the cooking and DJ industry.

On Social Media, he is known as Vivian Candappa; as a cook – chef Vivi Cand; and, as a DJ – DJ Smokey.

Unfortunately, his work, as a DJ, has come to a complete halt, he says, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“I generally have sufficient work coming my way, as DJ Smokey, especially in the lead up to the festive season.

“On one occasion, on New Year’s Eve, I had an event, in Mount Lavinia, as a DJ, and then had to rush to Unawatuna, on the same night, to spin records at a beach party.

“I hope some sort of normalcy will return soon so that we would have work coming our way, and for musicians, too.”

However, Vivian says that his new business – catering – is building up pretty well.

Having worked, as a chef, at many leading hotels, both in Sri Lanka and abroad, he has started his own catering service, with Uber and Pick Me, and this scene, he says, is helping him to overcome whatever difficulties that has cropped up, with the DJ scene going dead.

Vivian has named his new venture LIKE NO OTHER.
