Police have launched a probe into the disappearance of five million rupees from a safe at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The investigation was launched following a complaint the Fort Police received from Central Bank authorities.

The complaint states that bundles of cash placed inside the safe with high-security systems had gone missing.

The Fort police said that according to the complaint made by the section’s head, one of the bundles of money stored in the building’s underground third floor was missing.

He mentioned that the storage room has advanced security systems and cameras.
