Dinesh wants facilities restored for public to meet MPs at parliamentary complex
Leader of the House and Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has requested the Secretary General of Parliament and Serjeant-at-Arms to take action to enable the general public to meet their MPs in the parliamentary complex.
Minister Gunawardena met Secretary General Dhammika Dasanayake and Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando on Monday (12) and discussed the matter with them, Parliament sources said.
The Minister pointed out at the meeting that the public had been provided with the opportunity to meet their representative MPs and Ministers in the Parliamentary complex prior to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and the facility should be made available again as soon as possible.
Thereafter they inspected the meeting rooms of the MPs on the ground floor of the Parliamentary complex. The Serjeant-at-Arms said that there had been 10 such meeting rooms and seven of them could be made available immediately.
