Dinara clinches Under 14 girls’ singles title

St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo player Dinara de Silva won the Under 14 girls’ singles title of the National Tennis Championships 2021 as she beat Newstead Girls’ College player Arushi Thomas in the final played at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Wednesday.

Dinara de Silva registered a 7-6(4), 6-3 win to clinch the title.

A Royal-Thomain final in Under 14 boys singles

Top seed Lisal Goonetilleke ensured a Royal-Thomian final in the Under 14 boys’ singles of the National Tennis Championships when he won his semi-final on Wednesday.

S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia player Goonetilleke will meet Royalist Tharuk Marasinghe in the Under 14 boys’ singles final today.

Goonetilleke registered a 6-1, 6-1 win over Yuthila Hettiarachchi in his semi-final.

In the Under 18 girls’ singles last 16 round, national champion Anjalika Kurera beat Tuvini de Silva 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the quarter-final while Vishmi Serasinghe advanced to the semi-finals of that category with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Arella de Zoysa. Serasinghe will meet the winner of the match between Dinethya Dharmaratne and Kurera in the semi-final.
