Diana upbeat about receiving 763,000 tourists in first seven months of 2023
State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage has disclosed that during the first seven months of this year, 763,000 tourists visited Sri Lanka and revenue from tourism had reached 800 million US dollars.
State Minister Gamage said so during a media briefing at the Presidential Media Centre (PMC) on Sunday (30) under the theme ‘Collective Path to a Stable Country.’
“This is a remarkable growth rate of 205 percent compared to the previous year. Sri Lanka is undertaking a new programme to boost tourism and one significant step was hosting the final round of the Mrs India for Mrs World pageant recently. This prestigious event saw contestants from 30 countries visiting Sri Lanka, contributing to the promotion of the country’s tourism industry,” she said.
