Development work on Kerawalapitiya Industrial Estate road commences under four lanes

The development work of the Kerawalapitiya Industrial Estate Road, which is also an access road to the Expressway, commenced Dec. 20 under the government’s infrastructure development program to expand investment opportunities and encourage investors.

Development of this road was initiated under the patronage of State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure Nimal Lansa.

The 2.2 km Kerawalapitiya Industrial Estate will be developed in two phases under four lanes. Rs.133 million has been estimated to develop 0.5 km of the first phase. 1.7 km will be developed under the second phase and the estimated cost is Rs. 300 million.

Located at the entrance to the Katunayake International Airport and the Expressway to the Port of Colombo, this Industrial Estate Road will be developed as a more attractive area.

This road is being developed under the National Program for the Development of 100,000 kilometers under the ‘Vision of Prosperity’ program presented by the President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.This is being implemented on the instructions of Basil Rajapaksa, chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication.

Infrastructure development is a role of the government to encourage local and foreign investors and to create new investment opportunities and the necessary plans have already been implemented. Nimal Lansa, State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure stated that the development work of this road will be completed soon as there are many industries that contribute a lot to the economy of the country.

Member of Parliament Nalin Fernando, Former provincial Councilor Randir Rodrigo, chairman of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha Thyagaratne Alwis, Deputy Chairman Jagath Jayawardena, Project Engineers of the Road Development Authority Thilina Perera and Roshan Priyadarshana were also present.
