Devapathiraja encounter Rathnawali Balika in the girls’ cricket final

Devapathiraja College, Ratgama, and Rathnawali Balika, Gampaha have things to celebrate when they meet to decide the title of the Inter School Under 19 Girls’ Division I cricket tournament at Ananda Mawatha today.

They are the top producers of raw talent for the national team and some of their team members are also key players of the national team and the national Under 19 team.

Defending Champion Rathnawali Balika are captained by Sri Lanka National cap Vishmi Gunarathne and Devapathiraja are skippered by Sri Lanka under 19 cap Vihara Sewwandi de Silva.

The two teams reached the final by virtue of being the champions and the runner-up in the six-team league.

The six teams were Devapathiraja, Rathnawali Balika, Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda, Wadduwa Central, Princess of Wales College, Moratuwa, and Vijayabahu Maha Vidyalaya Okkampitiya.

Devapathiraja played four matches and recorded four wins during the tournament to top the group.

Defending champions were placed second in the points table with four wins after five matches. They lost to Devapathiraja.
