Delimitation Committee report submitted to PM

Chairman of the National Committee on Delimitation of Divisions for Local Government Bodies Mahinda Deshapriya yesterday (11) handed over the committee’s preliminary draft report to Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

The Opposition has repeatedly alleged that the delimitation process is part of the Wickremesinghe-Rajapaksa government’s strategy to put off scheduled Local Government polls.

Religious leaders and various organizations have already submitted proposals to be included in the report.

Deshapriya, the former elections Commission Chief said that the proposals received for inclusion in the final report would be considered until April 30.
