Deduru Oya Hydro Power Plant to be commissioned today

The Deduru Oya Hydro Power Plant would be inaugurated today supplying 1.5 MW to the national grid, a senior official of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said, adding that it would provide electricity to more than 1,000 families. More than Rs. 303 million was spent on the project. The CEB engineers yesterday said more than Rs. 160 million rupees would be saved annually due to the commissioning of the pollution-free project.The ceremonial inauguration of the Deduru Oya Power Plant would take place in Katuwannawa, Minuwangate, Padeniya. State Minister of Solar Power, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development, Duminda Dissanayake, Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of National Security and Disaster Management, Chamal Rajapaksa, and Minister of Power Dullas Alahapperuma will grace the occasion.The foundation stone was laid for the Deduru Oya Power Plant under the patronage of State Minister Champika Premadasa in 2019.
