December’s Discontents
By Lynn Ockersz
December brings its kill-joys,
To the storm-ravaged Isle,
Now caught in a wilting round,
Of unpaid public debt talks,
But these year-end discontents,
Are among the cruelest cuts,
That cash-strapped parents,
And other elders of their ilk,
Are called on to bear,
Since Christmas Trees and toys,
And other childhood thrills,
Could no longer be paid for,
By the poorest of these sufferers,
Since the light is going out in homes,
In the wake of un-fazing electricity shocks.
