Death of Senior Lawyer Prematilaka

Former President of the Colombo Bar Association and Sri Lanka Bar Association’s former Regional Vice President Senior Lawyer Gamini Prematilaka passed away on Thursday (20). Born in Beralapanathara, Deniyaya, he was 88 years old at the time of his death.

A past pupil of Ananda Vidyalaya Colombo, and Aquinas College Colombo, Prematilaka was a well-known poet and writer during the 1970s and 1980s.  Prematilaka’s wife was Justice Mallika Prematilaka, who was Sri Lanka’s first female judge. Their only child Chamini too is a lawyer. His funeral will be held at the General Cemetery, Borella on Saturday (22) at 4.30 p.m.  His remains are lying at No.92, Thalapathpitiya Road, Udahamulla, Nugegoda.
