Death of Lucien Rajakarunanayake
Veteran journalist Lucien Rajakarunanayake, passed away on Thursday at the age of 85-years. Having begun his career in newspapers in the 1960s at the old Times of Ceylon, he later served a period as Chairman of Lake House and spokesman for President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
A pioneering member of the Free Media Movement, he last served as Director of Research and Analysis at the president’s office during the Maithripala Sirisena presidency.
A former student of St. Peter’s College and Aquinas University College in Colombo, he was a popular English language columnist following his retirement from active newspapering contributing to publications including The Island.
