Death of KHJ Wijayadasa

Desamanya K.H.J. Wijayadasa, 87, former Secretary to the Prime Minister and the President (Mr. R. Premadasa) passed away on Thursday and his funeral was held within 24 hours according to his wishes, his family said.

A member of the former coveted Ceylon Civil Service, he had a long public service career ending as Secretary to Prime Minister R. Premadasa (1983-88) and later the President (1989-94).
He held several senior positions as GA Ampara, Polonnaruwa and Kegalle in the provincial administration and elsewhere (Chairman Land Reform Commission, JEDB, State Engineering Corporation, Central Environment Authority etc) during a distinguished career and spent his retirement largely engaged in writing and on religious work courageously fighting his last illness.
