Death of a Worker
By Lynn Ockersz
Janitor Silva’s sad travails,
Have come to a tragic end,
And no more will we see him,
Toiling for his Daily Bread,
On the city’s demented streets,
But his name will go to swell,
The daily list of accident victims,
Leaving behind a hapless family,
With no chance of recompense,
And big unanswered questions,
Like, will his killers ever face justice?
Was he entitled to a pension payment?
Are the land’s manual workers,
No better than a disposable commodity?
