Dansal after several years; 3,000 PHIs deployed to ensure food safety

The Public Health Inspectors Union (PHIU) said yesterday that they will deploy about 3,000 PHIs to check the level of hygiene in the Vesak Dansels around the country.Head of the Union Upul Rohana said that organisers of Vesak Dansels must register with regional health officials.

“The MoH Office is ready to assist organisers of Vesak Dansels. Health officials will also help people with the layout of these Dansels,” he said.

Rohana said that Dansels would be checked by PHIs on the day before Vesak, on Vesak Day and the day after.

“It is feared that Dansels could become centres of disease dissemination. After a lapse of several years due to the pandemic, people are hosting Vesak Dansels this year. We have taken all steps necessary to ensure that these Dansels are run in a hygienic manner,” Rohana said.
