Dancing his way towards his goals
Prasad Sandaruwan, also known as B Boy Malla, may not be a mega star, just yet, but he has the potential to brighten up the entertainment scene…in the very near future!
Yes, he is an extremely talented hip-hop dancer, rapper, a member of the National Roller Ball team (basketball played with the team members wearing roller skating shoes), and a hip-hop dance teacher, as well.
I’m told that Malla always sports a smile (genuine, they say) and that he never hesitates to lend a helping hand, and finds happiness when others are happy.
As a student, he was immersed in the hip-hop scene and the kind of culture that went with this genre of music.
The turning point came when he met Lasantha Pramuditha, of Torrential Dancing School, and trained under him.
With the guidance of his teacher, Malla danced his way towards his goals, and found success coming his way.
He continues to be a member of the Torrential Dancing Team, helping them to win the dancing event (dance competition) at The Colombo Motor Show, for four consecutive years.
His versatility and dexterity, as a dancer, has helped him win many awards – both local and international.
In 2018, he did a music track, called ‘ANTHEM’, featuring the MRT Crew, and the song turned out to be a big hit with the younger generation.
Later, he released two more tracks – ‘CYPHER,’ with the MRT Crew, and ‘Preethi Sadee’ with D-City Team.
Malla is currently working on a solo track, with lots more music to follow.
Referring to his involvement in Roller Ball, he said that he had undergone training with coach Lasantha Pramuditha and Indian trainer Ravindran, and had participated in several international Roller Ball tournaments.
He represented the Sri Lanka Team at the Roller Ball World Cup, held in Pune, India, where Sri Lanka was placed 15, out of 35 participating countries, and also took part in the Roller Ball Asian Games, in Thailand, in 2016 (Sri Lanka fourth out of 10 countries), and the 2nd Roller Ball World Cup, in Bangladesh (Sri Lanka in Top 10, out of 55 countries).
Malla’s colleagues say that he is a good example of a youth who became successful in his life, despite the many hardships, and problems, he encountered, earlier on.
He works at a private firm and also operates an online sales centre, called ML Products.
This ambitious young man appeals to the youth of today to take to dancing and music, in a special way, so that they could keep themselves out of mischief – like getting involved in drugs, drinking, smoking, etc.
Another important thing, he says, is to always be kind, helpful, and respect people.
His motto: Keep our country flag flying high – both locally and internationally. And, that is exactly what Prasad Sandaruwan, aka B Boy Malla, is doing with his talent.
