Customs nab Kenyan with cocaine

Officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Division on Sunday night (24th) arrested a Kenyan national who tried to smuggle in a consignment of cocaine with a street value of Rs 300 million.

Customs officers said that 180 capsules of cocaine, weighing 04 kilos in total, were found concealed inside three metal cookie tins inside his hand luggage.

The arrest was made by the Customs officials when he was about to leave the airport through the “Green Channel”

The Kenyan national had come to Sri Lanka for the first time and the Customs Narcotics Control Division had received a tip-off.

The suspect and the cache of cocaine were handed over to the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.
