Customs find Kush worth Rs. 8Mn hidden inside beverage maker

Customs officers found 1,150 grams of Kush (a strain of Cannabis indica) worth Rs. 8 million concealed inside a beverage maker couriered to Colombo from the US.

As the package had remained unclaimed in the cargo section of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Customs officers had tried to trace the addressee but the address given was found to be false.

The drugs were found in five separate packets hidden inside the beverage maker.

Investigations were conducted by a team led by Director M. M. Rajaratnam and Deputy Director, Narcotics Control Unit, Ajith Duminda under the direction of Director-General, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Vijith Ravipriya and Additional Customs Director-General Ananda Eswaran.
