Customs expects to collect around 2.8 billion USD in revenue in 2023
Sri Lanka Customs on Thursday announced that they expected to rake in Rs 925 billion (USD 2.83 billion) by way of revenue in 2023.
Speaking to the media, Customs Director and media spokesman Seevali Arukgoda said that between 2017 and 2023, Sri Lanka Customs generated a revenue of 742 billion rupees (2.27 billion dollars) per year.
The government had set a revenue target of 1,226 billion rupees (3.75 billion dollars) for 2023, and the difference between the revenue target and the actual achievement has been a concern, Arukgoda said.He said the International Monetary Fund had made five recommendations for Sri Lanka Customs, and they are trying to increase efficiency.
