Curfew clamped in Western Province from midnight

A quarantine curfew would be imposed in the entire western province from midnight today, Army Commander, Lt. General Shavendra Silva said yesterday.

He said the curfew would be effective till 5 am on Monday. Curfew in certain parts of the western province would not be lifted on Monday.

The government also said that grocery stores and pharmacies in areas where curfew was currently imposed should be open from 8 am to 10 pm today. After Monday, grocery stores and pharmacies in areas where curfew was imposed should be open two days a week.

However only one member from a family should visit those establishments and everyone should adhere to health guidelines, Lt. Gen. Silva said.
