Cuba to help Sri Lanka challenge UNHRC resolution
Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Friday met Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel in Havana and assured him that Sri Lanka will continue to support Cuba at global forums.
Cuba will continue to support Sri Lanka challenge the UNHRC resolution against it, he said.Wickremesinghe is attending the G77 + China Leaders’ Summit in Havana.
Discussions between Wickremesinghe and Canel centred around strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation between the two nations in medicine, healthcare, sports training and coconut cultivation.
Both leaders pledged to support each other at global forums, the Presidential Media Division (PMD) said.
“I spoke with your President. We can help Cuba in coconut cultivation. More than anything we agreed to work together to strengthen the Global South,” he said addressing the Cuban media.
Wickremesinghe will address the UN General Assembly on 21 September in New York.
