Crimes on the rise, police lack experienced cops to carry out investigations

Crimes have increased dramatically in recent weeks, police sources said adding that with the most experienced policemen committed elsewhere, the underworld was making the most of the situation.Underworld members had carried out six murders in various parts of the country, last week alone, sources said. “There weren’t enough policemen to investigate those incidents. If this continues, Crime will rise further.”

The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), and crimes divisions of Mirihana, Kalutara and Peliyagoda police stations have been entrusted with arresting those who set fire to the houses of politicians and to assess damages caused.
