CPA Secy. Gen. due here

The Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, (CPA), Stephen Twigg, is scheduled to arrive at the BIA last night, the Acting Secretary General of the Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera has said.

Deputy Chairman of Committees, Angajan Ramanathan, and the Assistant Secretary General of Parliament, Tikiri Jayathilaka, were to welcome the Secretary General of CPA, and the group. Twigg will be accompanied by Ms. Emily Davies, Head of Strategy and Engagement of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

Mr. Stephen Twigg was appointed as the eight Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) on 01 August 2020. Before that, he had served as a Member of Parliament, in the United Kingdom, from 1997 to 2005 and from 2010 to 2019.

The Acting Secretary General said that they were scheduled to meet the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker, the Leader of the House, the Leader of the Opposition, the Foreign Minister and other Ministers, Members of Parliament, as well as representatives of civil organizations.
